You'd think a Councillor with a record of cutting services and delaying action on safe streets would have the decency to at least live -near- the community he's damaging.
He makes the cuts. We'll live with the consequences.

In voting down this motion, Clr Montague indignantly claimed that the VPD "puts out a message telling drivers to avoid non-essential travel every year" and that to suggest otherwise is "outright false." Can anyone find evidence of this? Here's their PSA for this year:

Maybe the reason Brian Montague brought forward the amendment to kill this Halloween safe streets motion is that he's still recovering from the time children "intimidated" him with their climate change art.

The party of public safety, everyone:
Honestly gobsmacked by ABC's referral of my road safety motion to staff.
Halloween is the most dangerous night of the year for CHILDREN.
This was an attempt to use an existing process to keep CHILDREN safe, and ABC punted it to staff w/o offering an alternative.
Really, guys?

ABC disregarded reams of formal public feedback received by the City in their Budget Survey.
It's cynical and unserious. And it's insulting to residents and to the staff who put untold hours into analyzing and compiling the Survey results.

People are broke, parks are falling apart, and Ken Sim is cutting the budget to the bone. Now isn’t the time for an unnecessary referendum.
My breaking file on the province requiring a referendum to kill Vancouver's Park Board.
Sim is avoiding criticism of the province on this decision — but he was originally hopeful to get rid of the park board in six months.
But he lost political capital, and the province wasn't inclined to help.

If they are approved, it’s impossible to tell what’s on the chopping block. Libraries? Community centres? Investments that improve public safety?
I don’t know - and I don’t think ABC knows, either.
