Beginning of my thread of films and plays I see in 2025. First up "We live in Time". Terrible name with a pretty competent first two thirds, but loses its way by the end and completely sanitises dying of cancer. Probably not worth seeing

It's all so predictable! This is one reason why I'm always so sceptical that "championship/English football" experience is "so important", it doesn't seem to be helping Manning get us out of this rut #ncfc
0-0 at HT, second half collapse, Manning actively make things worse, Hull score around 70 minutes, game over #ncfc

This article on AI feels absurdly optimistic. AI regularly gets things wrong, as such pushes a lot of misinformation into the world. The Internet put a lot of experts in your pocket, AI risks hiding the experts behind slop, so could increase the info advantage again

Interesting read, for those interested in town planning/urban development
I've written about the worst city in the Netherlands. It's just 3000 words. A quick read. What Lelystad teaches us about new cities, why you probably shouldn't build them, what to do if you must,... and why you might need to. ps. Lelystad is actually good. tomforth.co.uk/newcities/

I wasn't following closely, but everything I saw (in national press) was about the chances of reform winning. If you are a professional politics person it really is quite embarrassing if you missed that nearly half the people were about to vote for a specific different party
Caerphilly, Senedd constituency by-election result:

PC: 47.4% (+19.0)
REF: 36.0% (+34.2)

GRN: 1.5% (+1.5)
LDEM: 1.5% (-1.2)

Plaid Cymru GAIN from Labour.

I will always find stories like this inherently funny. You bought a bed that can stop working if the Internet goes down. You bought a bed that can stop working! My bed has no bells and whistles, but I *know* it will always be a working bed
The AWS outage bricked people's $2,700 smartbeds, leaving them in a reclining position or with the heat up. People were unable to use them, basically. A GitHub repo exists that lets people operate their beds without reliance on the normal infrastructure

The AWS Outage Bricked People’s $2,700 Smartbeds
When Amazon Web Services went offline, people lost control of their cloud-connected smart beds, getting stuck in reclined positions or roasting with the heat turned all the way up.

Really interesting article. Lends weight to my feelings that last season we were actually not that bad until the final run, and were largely better than we currently are. We'll never know if JHT would've been able to turn it around this season, but it's currently not looking better #ncfc
