In many ways it's fitting that the showdown between monarchy and democracy ends up being over NYC congestion pricing.

Cities are where the power of kings were first challenged, and few things are more fundamental to government than control of public space.

The cameras are staying on!

one thing that really infuriates me about Gen Z is their constant use of acronyms and niche slang, often assuming everyone understands what they mean. i see it all the time on tiktok and ofc the top search on the comments is the acronym/phrase

i love how republicans when nearing death develop a moral conscience (recall McCain)
The Senate just voted to confirm Tulsi Gabbard as Trump's Director of National Intelligence, 52-48.

Mitch McConnell voted NO. All other Republicans supported Gabbard.

ALL Democrats voted NO.

Gabbard has taken a sympathetic stance toward Russia and Syria under the Assad family's rule.

it’s like final destination were they’re all meant to be in prison
A January 6th insurrectionist pardoned by Donald Trump accidentally burned down his house yesterday during the Super Bowl after he lit a pile of his teen daughter’s Taylor Swift t-shirts on fire.

it just doesn’t sit right with me that kendrick is getting all this praise for drake slander. like i’m not saying drake is a holy saint, but there’s a lot more enemies in the world than drake. seems like wasted energy to go after him especially with a trump’s presidency

don’t get me wrong i love seeing the ICE protests but WHERE THE FUCK was this enthusiasm during the election!?! democrats were screaming at the top of our lungs for people to care about losing our rights and people didn’t take us seriously. so infuriating and exhausting

@npr.org Hey NPR, TikTok seems to be increasing censorship ahead of Trump’s inauguration. I can’t go live anymore, and some users report that comments criticizing Trump require approval. Even simple phrases like “free Luigi” are being removed. Here’s a screenshot showing what’s happening.

Climate change is real, if it weren’t, insurance companies wouldn’t be pulling out. They’ve studied the data and made smart business decisions.

Meanwhile, Republicans waste time attacking LGBT rights instead of addressing the crisis, leaving us to deal with the consequences. ✅

Conservatives on Twitter are desperately trying to spin the narrative that LA Democrats have neglected their fire departments.

We're facing record-breaking drought and hurricane-force winds. No amount of 'readiness' can prepare for this level of climate change catastrophe.

This IS the Republican playbook. Take something so minuscule and make it controversial, meanwhile the whole country argues, the politicians set laws to enrich themselves. Divide and conquer.
Trump: "We're going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America."

(He's serious.)

The modern obsession with 'celebrating life' instead of mourning the dead is utterly disgusting. Funerals are for grieving, not partying. I don't want to be remembered with Martha throwing up in the backyard from too many patron shots while I'm six feet under. It's disrespectful af

It’s funny how one homicide on the NYC subway has everyone yelling about how dangerous public transit is, yet when a vehicle causes mass casualties at an open streets event, nobody’s talking about how dangerous cars are.

My average walking step length according to Apple Health is 2.55 ft. I then asked Siri how many steps did I take last year. With that into and my annual steps, I walked a distance of 1,442 miles or 2,321 km

I’m at work sitting in the toilet stall doing my business, when somebody came to the stall next to me, sat down, did their business, and left all within the span of two minutes. How is that possible?
