This whole shitshow is a good reminder that a big corporation's tolerance of anticapitalist stories is intended to provide an ineffectual but satisfying outlet for anticapitalist sentiment in viewers. It's a scratching post.
The fact that Netflix just released a actual massive reality TV show version of Squid Game—a story about how the desperation caused by wealth inequality under capitalism will make people do anything for money—is way too on the nose for me.
