Fascinated by space exploration and racing cars. Reasonably tall by normal standards. Once described as 'the best-dressed man in radio'. Opinions and views are mine but you're welcome to borrow them.
A truly inspiring man. Rest easy, Jim.

Remembering Roger Williamson, tragically killed in an accident (in only his second F1 race start) at the Dutch Grand Prix #OnThisDay in 1973, he was 25.

A tremendous talent, Williamson won three British F3 titles during 1971-1972. He won the Monza European F2 round earlier in 1973.

For me, this has to be the standout moment of the year in motorsport thus far and it will take something incredible by the end of 2025 to overtake that.

Absolutely amazing. Young Solberg looked totally at home in Rally 1 machinery. Don't think it'll be long until he's there permanently.

Brilliant!

The FIA bureaucracy and structure has seemed pretty antiquated and in need of rethinking for, like, a long long time and now it's being squeezed internally in the wrong ways.

To avoid damaging the highly creditable reputation & governance of the FIA new FIA statutes will identify voting against the existing FIA president as a clear conflict of interest.

The FIA & Mohammed Ben Sulayem look forward to a democratic presidential election in December.

If you are over 6ft tall, the extra leg room seats on planes should be available for free. I shouldn't be charged extra to have the same level of comfort as the rest of the passengers just because I have long legs. It's discrimination.

Last few years this track is either so wet we can barely get racing safely or so dry it's on fire. We either need neither, or both so they cancel each other out.

When anyone in our family (children included) use Alexa, we put on a South African accent. I have no idea why we do this, or how it started.

Such sad news. Our sport - and our planet - will be a less flamboyant, exciting, and entertaining place.

EJ will be very much missed.
Some very sad news to bring you, as former #F1 team owner Eddie Jordan passes away at the age of 76.

Due to space and trying to save some cash for hopefully a big year next year, I promised my wife that I wouldn't buy any new #F1 merch this year.

The look she gave me suggested she didn't believe me.

McLaren have sent a preview of the new kit - looks like the easiest promise I'll ever keep!

Fun workshop today - putting my students into two trial teams and a jury, arguing digital media versus traditional media for marketing. Most effective way I've found so far for getting undergrads to think about how they construct and support arguments, and enjoyable for everyone too!

I'd have taken a shot at goal for the final kick, stop Wales from getting the Bonus Point - could that losing BP be important in the table come the end?

I remember reading an article in the F1 magazine about Roger Williamson when I was about 12, and it really stuck with me. Many years later, my brother bought me a book with F1 facsimiles, including Roger's licence. Genuinely brought a tear to my eye.

Gone far too young.

Happy birthday, Roger.
Today, PlanetF1 remembers Roger Williamson, who was born on this day in 1948.

A 2x British F3 champion, Williamson was killed at the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix.

In the aftermath, #F1 mandated fireproof clothing for trackside marshals, while drivers vowed to aid at crash sites.

Fun weekend - enjoyed trying out the new Bristol Sixes, and followed up with catching the Bears in action today at Aston Gate. It has been a hectic start to the year so really nice to have a breather for a couple of days!
