#HappyBirthday to George Eaton, 80 today.

A member of the prominent Eaton family, he became Canada's first full-time F1 driver, driving for BRM in 11 GPs between 1969-1971. Eaton's best finish was 10th at his home race in 1970. He also raced in Can-Am & Formula A.

Remembering Paul Emery, born #OnThisDay in 1916.

Designer of 500cc F3 cars under the Emeryson title, Emery qualified one of his own designs for the 1956 British Grand Prix, but retired due to ignition trouble. He later designed F1 cars for ENB, & Scirocco.

Remembering Peter Whitehead, born #OnThisDay in 1914.

Winning the 1938 Australian Grand Prix in an ERA, Whitehead started 10 World Championship races (1950-1954), finishing 3rd at the 1950 French Grand Prix. In 1951, along with Peter Walker, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Remembering Vittorio Brambilla, who was born #OnThisDay 11 November 1937.

Nicknamed “the Monza Gorilla,” Brambilla began racing on motorcycles, then karts, before joining his brother Tino Brambilla in Formula Three in 1968, eventually moving up to Formula Two.

Remembering a very special female racer today, Maria Teresa de Filippis.

Born #OnThisDay 11 November 1926, de Filippis was an Italian racing driver who made F1 history as the first female F1 driver to compete in F1, breaking barriers in a male-dominated sport, debuting in 1958.

Remembering Maria Teresa de Filippis, born #OnThisDay 99 years ago. The first of only 2 women ever to start a championship #F1 GP (the other being Lella Lombardi in the ’70s), de Filippis drove 3 F1 GPs in ’58, in a Maserati 250F, the last at Monza (pic). She died in 2016.

Remembering Vittorio Brambilla, born #OnThisDay in 1937.

Known as "The Monza Gorilla", Brambilla drove for March, Surtees & Alfa Romeo, taking part in 74 GPs between 1974-1980. His sole victory came at a wet 1975 Austrian GP, spinning & hitting the barrier as he crossed the line.

The first woman to start a World Championship Grand Prix, de Filippis raced a privateer Maserati in 3 Grand Prix during 1958, finishing 10th at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Remembering Italian gentleman racer Piero Scotti, born #OnThisDay in 1909.

Mostly racing sports cars, Scotti came 3rd at the 1951 Mille Miglia. In 1953, he teamed up with Giuseppe Farina, winning the 12 Hours of Casablanca. Scotti drove a privateer Connaught at the 1956 Belgian Grand Prix.

Remembering Lucien Bianchi, who was born #OnThisDay 10 November 1934 in Milan. Bianchi built his career in sports cars and rallying before single-seaters in 1959. His first F1 qualification came at the 1960 Belgian GP, where he drove his Cooper to a sixth-place finish, earning points.

Remembering Lucien Bianchi, great-uncle of Jules, born #OnThisDay in ’34. He started 17 #F1 GPs, best 3rd at Monaco in ’68 in a Cooper T86B. He was more successful at Le Mans, where he won that year in a Ford GT40 (pic) & where he was sadly killed in testing the following year.

Remembering Óscar González (left), one of only 4 Uruguayan #F1 drivers, born #OnThisDay in 1923. He started one F1 GP, Argentina ’56, in a Maserati, finishing 6th, sharing a car with fellow countryman Alberto Uria. #AnorakFact: the race featured only Ferraris & Maseratis.

McLaren's Lando Norris gave his World Championship prospects a sizeable boost with victory at yesterday's Saõ Paulo Grand Prix, his 7th win of the season. Norris extended his World Championship lead over teammate Oscar Piastri to 24 points, with 3 Grand Prix, & 1 sprint left.

#HappyBirthday to New Zealand's Brendon Hartley, 36 today.

Racing for Toro Rosso in 25 GPs (2017-2018), Hartley achieved 3 points finishes, with 9th at the 2018 US GP his best result. He had won 4 World Endurance Championships, and is a 3-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner.

Remembering Italian-born Belgian Lucien Bianchi, born #OnThisDay in 1934.

Great-uncle of the late Jules Bianchi, Lucien Bianchi started 17 Grand Prix (1960-1968), finishing 3rd at Monaco in 1968. That same year, he partnered Pedro Rodriguez to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Remembering Óscar González, born #OnThisDay in 1923.

González shared, with Alberto Uría, the 6th placed Maserati at the 1956 Argentine GP, his only World Championship appearance. He raced touring cars for many years in his native Uruguay. González also competed in Uruguayan F3.
