The purpose of a system is what it does, and science is a thing which people do Would we say that we “collaborate” with a combine harvester to collect corn crops? Or “collaborate” with a gun to kill people, in the way we commonly talk about “collaborating” with AI to do all sorts of tasks, from creating mediocre visual art to generating lists of families to annihilate? Is an F1 score of 0.7 or 0.8 or 0.9 really a useful thing to talk about, when we talk about the decision to take a human life?
