The government is saying that violence rules. That snatching foreign leaders and territories, and shooting US citizens in their cars at point blank range, is justified. That resistance is not only futile, it is dangerous. They can say these things. But they cannot force us to believe them.

Harrowing photos like this one helped shape our nation’s story and ultimately achieve a future free from the horrors of slavery.

Now, the Trump administration is trying to hide the darkest parts of our history—we can’t let that happen.
National park to remove photo of enslaved man’s scars
The Trump administration is ordering the removal of information on slavery at multiple national parks in an effort to scrub them of “corrosive ideology.”

The fact that Matthew Dowd lost his job for pointing out Charlie Kirk’s hate speech, while Brian Kilmeade openly suggests we should euthanize the homeless and there is zero outrage, shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.

Yep! And harassment, threats, and slander are not free speech. Civil rights are protections, not weapons.

#OTD in 1954, Ruby Bridges was born. At just six years old, she integrated William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans, escorted by federal marshals past angry mobs. Her courage still lights the way.

They really want women to suffer. More. They want women to suffer even more.

Asked my husband “what do the red-hat cultists even think freedom is?” He said “feeling superior to everyone else. Even if you have to give up everything to feel it.”
This was spotted on a protest sign today and is too good not to share.

It is spot-on.

I actually think one of the most American lessons you could learn in school is that your neighbors come from all races & religions, speak different languages, have families that may look different from yours, and that's what makes us great. I'd make Cultural Studies a requirement over Algebra II.

We can't allow ourselves to become numb to mass shootings. What happened today in Minneapolis is heartbreaking, and Michelle and I are praying for the parents who have lost a child or will be sitting at their hospital bedside after yet another act of unspeakable, unnecessary violence.

This is a short film by Miranda Mars, (@mimsymars on tiktok), called The Incinerator. It's one of the most beautifully haunting and relevant things I have seen.

A rainbow crosswalk in Orlando that was part of the city’s Pulse Memorial was painted over by the state last night at the order of Ron DeSantis.

The memorial honored the 49 people fatally shot by a gunman at the Pulse LGBTQ nightclub in 2016 — the largest mass shooting in the country at the time.

There is no substance to whiteness. It’s an arbitrary form of othering. To be “white” is only to not be something else. And the parameters have changed over time. This is why white culture doesn’t exist. On what foundation would that way of life stand? It’s an apophatic descriptor.

The last US Civil War was between people who believed some people were not human, and could therefore be treated inhumanely, and those that believe all are created equal.

This US Cold Civil War we are in now, is the similar.

It's about inhumanity vs humanity.
