“You see, the life I live is sickening / I spent a decade playing chicken with oblivion / Day to day, I'm neck and neck with giving in / I'm the same old wreck I've always been”
— David Berman
Did they elect Jeff Kent just to spite Barry Bonds even more? How is Lou Whitaker still waiting for the call? Perplexing HOF committee results once again.

I wonder what percentage of NFL catches in the pre-replay era would have been overturned if they happened now. 5%? More than that?

TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

We’re going to be looking very strongly at the bourgeoisie, what they’re up to

Trying to figure out how to watch baseball makes me feel like I’m 90 years old and everyone keeps shouting 6, 7. It’s so confusing!
NEWS: MLB is set to announce its new TV deals with NBC, Netflix and ESPN, sources tell @andrewmarchand.bsky.social.

NBC will become the new home of the first round of the playoffs and Sunday Night Baseball.

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

The Pacers fans booing Myles Turner are sociopathic. Boo the front office, not one of your franchise's all-time greats.

The most one-sided officiating of an NBA game I’ve seen in a *long* time. I look forward to reminiscing about it in a few months when Pablo Torre Finds Out which one(s) of them were on the take.
Is John Conley the worst official in the NBA? Is he the target of any FBI investigations?

His performance in today’s Bucks-Kings game has been very bad — but also comically weird. Bad refs are normal; they blend in. Conley has not.

Disappointing to see 2020 Christian Yelich show up for the postseason. He (and nearly all of his teammates) look exhausted and physically weak. Is Pat Murphy the Tom Thibodeau of MLB? Did they just run out of gas from trying too hard all season? Or are the Dodgers really this much better of a team?

Final: Brewers 3, Cubs 1

The Taylor catch. The Grisham boot. The Freeman homer. The Dbacks snake attack. Alonso off off Williams. It’s in the past now. The Brewers’ regular season success finally leads to a playoff series win. They beat the Cubs. Milwaukee is onto the NLCS.

This drug costs about $500,000 per year. Health care capitalism is a moral atrocity.
Amazing! People who were helped by a drug in a clinical trial share their experiences & recommendations:

"We call for two urgent actions...
Hear our stories... & critically examine what went wrong in the original trial design.

Collaborate ... to launch a redesigned clinical trial of Vyvgart..."
A group of 53 people with #LongCOVID joined a clinical trial for Vyvgart. For many of them, the treatment changed everything.

Then, without warning, Argenx canceled the trial.

Most of them have now relapsed.

They're calling on the NIH and HHS to study the drug: bit.ly/48l1Qp5
