Unpopular job hunting thought: cover letters are a waste of time. Most hiring managers don't care about them, AI screening tools don't care about them...they only serve as another way to be screened out of a first interview opportunity. In the long run you'll get just as many interviews without one

Please don’t tell your friends who are job hunting to craft a new resume for every application or contact the hiring manager on LinkedIn or put hidden keywords in their resume. EVERYONE does these things now. They will not make you stand out as a candidate.

I thought this was gonna be an article about job hunting startups that promise to get rid of all the AI job spam and to vet both employees and employers to ensure they're not ruining the process with AI.

But no, it's just companies falling all over themselves to shove more AI into job hunting.

Job hunting: scams, unpaid internships, being processed like cattle by some AI bot, impossible requirements (aka entry-level with 5 years experience, minimum wage with bachelor), sales dressed up as biz development or growth specialist. Has anyone any idea about how to filter through the noise?

Will AI take your job? It depends. 👀

ILO data shows only 2.3% of jobs face full automation — but women in clerical roles and workers in lower-income regions may feel the biggest impact.

Also, I have a little tip for anyone job hunting.

Apps and sites like Indeed and ZipRecruiter are great for finding things quickly, but don't use them to actually apply. Agencies will use them to catfish you, so rather than applying for the actual job, you're applying for an employment agency.

The bane of job hunting in 2025: political instability, a looming economic crisis, and everyone and his brother trying to replace people with some sort of AI bot.

They dangle jobs like bait. We apply, wait, hope… and nothing.
You think we won’t notice?

They waste time and crush morale.
And we’re done playing nice.
You wanted engagement?
You’re about to get it.
We see you. We’re organizing. We’re fighting back.

I strongly encourage you to start ignoring rules when job-hunting. Do you have any idea how many jobs for "native English speakers only" I got by simply applying with my portfolio? Three I think. No one ever brought it up. This is just one example. Most job posting "rules" are fake. Apply away.
