Like why would the bbc need to ‘balance’ its cover of the US in this way?

When the BBC covers, say, Xi critically should it also run a programme dedicated to the CCP’s achievements?

Michael Prescott was ‘“shocked” that after an hour-long Panorama documentary dealing with Trump and the January 6 insurgency, there was no “similar, balancing” programme about Kamala Harris.’

More read about the machinations between the BBC resignations, the more worrying it becomes

Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

The dire situation of TfL workers expecting to transition from graduate visas to skilled worker visas but facing deportation due to cruel and abrupt government visa changes is picked up in the Sunday Times.

I raised this with the Mayor last month so am glad to see he has ⏱️ now written to Mike Tapp.

It’s baffling that both conservatives and Labour keep up this rhetoric about the SNP.

They’ve been a government for longer than either of them in this century. And this stuff is so easy to use in Scotland to say that Westminster doesn’t respect it as a result.
David Lammy describing the SNP as “a national security threat” in the Commons is a very dangerous moment for our democracy. The SNP is a peaceful party which got 1.3 million votes at the last Holyrood election.

The UK Labour Party defines itself as a "democratic socialist" part in the first sentence of Clause IV. And has since the 1990s.

That's how woeful the BBC claiming it's a term with no definition is. Good grief.
I don't know what is more depressing. That the BBC seems to have no clue what democratic socialism is or that someone who comments on politics for a living thinks it's the same as communism.

Jesus wept, indeed. GCSE, Introduction to Politics, Chapter 1, stuff.

Two years ago I interviewed a 31-year-old NY state assemblymember about a 7-year-old girl killed by an SUV driver in his district. I hung up the phone, astonished that I'd talked to a legislator who so thoughtfully articulated what actually needs to change on our streets.

This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

Utterly bizarre to describe climate change policy as some kind of radical-left albatross.

The IRA contained precisely the kind of 'kitchen table' programs everyone says Democrats should focus on — and they're popular!

The problem was that Americans *didn't know* what the IRA was or who passed it.

More information coming out now on this. Looks like a Cabinet Office scheme led by Georgia Gould… planned savings of £10m-£30m a year (back up lower Premier League full-back price) don’t really seem worth the candle if this the result IMO.

Twitter (and then X) was never 'representative' in the sense that its user base skewed to the liberal-left, but the content that is now amplified on there has swung to the far right. This is giving a distorted signal of public opinion.

See this fascinating recent study from the US ->
In short, the ANES data shows:
📉 Social media use is shrinking
💥 Twitter/X posting has moved ~50 points to the right
