there really is no alternative to tearing up CBP and ICE root and branch
A US citizen with a learning disability who has just suffered a medical emergency asks a CBP officer for directions outside the emergency room. He ends up detained in an icebox for ten days and has the assistant secretary of DHS lying about him to the public at large. popular.info/p/us-citizen...

In 1931, Italian scholars were made to take loyalty oaths. Will that happen to us?

Jawdropping.

You would expect this in a dictatorship, not the United States.

This country is unrecognizable.

The writ of habeas corpus exists to protect against arbitrary detention and confinement. Of course, the writ meaning anything depends on an executive branch that is willing to 1) respond to a legal action; 2) tell the truth in court; and 3) obey a court order.

Otherwise this is 1973 Chile
"If they can disappear a green card holder, they can disappear a citizen."

"No, I'd just call my lawyer and they'd get the misunderstanding sorted out."

DHS: "Lol, lmao"
UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is.
They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there.
They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

Here's a great example of a major company scrubbing any reference to diversity. In 2023, Coca-Cola said that 42% of its employees were women and 49% were people of color. In the 2024 10-K filed today, any reference to those numbers were gone.
