The entire salary process is bullshit. Businesses pay more for the same goods and services all the time. A bigger bill arrives and gets paid. But bosses always see wages not as expenses, but as an act of largess. Self assessments, committee approvals, review periods- no vendor has to deal with this

They’re the ones that say you have to entertain all viewpoints and make room for the bigot to spread his views.
