The sheer power of a relentless right wing media assault on the Labour government. More people think this budget was no better or worse than Liz Truss’ disastrous, economy-crashing budget than see it as better. This persistent tsunami of propaganda isn’t just anti-Labour, it’s anti-reality.

For 56 minutes Sky News and BBC News interrupted everything else and carried a Reform UK feed live, uninterrupted, unchallenged. The stream spluttered, froze, pixelated - dozens of times - still they stuck with it. FOR ONE HOUR.

This is the most anti-science thing I have watched today.
What is most shocking about this is all of these statements are being made without any scientific evidence to back it up.
There are very few safe options to treat pain and fever in pregnancy so this is also an attack on women's health.

And on it goes. Israeli politicians using UK media to stoke up outrage around Bob Vylan & Kneecap must be laughing their heads off at how easy it all is. I think this brings the Palestinian death toll *since the Glastonbury performance* in to triple figures.

Rod Stewart declaring we should give Nigel Farage a chance makes absolute sense when you remember his support for Enoch Powell. See this interview with Rod Stewart (International Times No 94 December 17-31 1970).

I wondered for a while why Trump was so excited by Brexit, even to the point of getting Farage to fluff him. It was simple, really: proof that, with the support of enough bent media, bad people selling bigotry & lies really could persuade people to vote to punch themselves in the face forever.

This is so important. Lockdown worked, lockdowns are devastating, lockdowns should be avoided - but not by doing nothing, ‘you can’t wing a pandemic.
It's 5 yrs today since lockdown started in England, but "We must never have lockdown again" is the wrong lesson.

Lockdowns are terrible but so are deadly pandemics.

Our choices 5 years ago were limited - we can & must do better in the future.

Do read my post.

And unless we learn the right ones, we risk making the same mistakes in a new pandemic
