During the Great Recession (2008-09) UK GDP fell by 6%. Thankfully, it mostly recovered after 5 years.

Since Brexit referendum (2016) UK GDP has fallen between 6% and 8%. Unclear whether and when it will fully recover.

Incredibly bittersweet to be published in Teen Vogue this weekend after devastating layoffs, including my editor for this piece. It’s about how beauty influencers have fallen into and become part of the alt-right pipeline targeting girls and women

People are still buying those baby killer mobiles? I simply wouldn’t drive a car that’s lubcricated by the blood of starving children. Every time one goes past you, you can hear the screams of the children going, “we only wanted to eat, but you wanted to look like a dork “
Now they’re dead. Good job

I'm a SNAP recipient... for the last month I was tightening my belt, doing my best to eat cheaper and eating less so I'd have a little left over to help get me through when payments were cut. It was all for nothing. Fuck the dems who supported this.
I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.

We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.

A vote for this bill is a mistake.

These Dems aren’t afraid of being primaried. They aren’t afraid of calls to their offices.

They don’t care about social media posts.

They aren’t afraid of their base.

Yes we have a two party system.

But what other way is there to force immediate change but to withhold donating to the party?

If any Senate vote happens it will be on a different bill that kicks the can down the road some weeks on a CR (probably Jan it sounds like); that new bill will then have to pass the House

Earlier House CR is effectively dead since it only went until 21 Nov
