This makes sense to me. But if Bandt loses his seat (seemingly likely) my guess is the most conservative elements in the Greens will see it as their opportunity to create some kind of teals-y/we like trees but are scared of issues like Gaza and economic populism party.
'Anyone who argues that the Greens should respond to the poor election result by further watering down their already watery policies shouldn’t be taken seriously. If anything, the Greens' central platform and messaging was too similar to Labor’s to offer a strong enough...point of difference.'
