I will put it like this. There is a video game called “Lemmings.” The purpose of this video game is to prevent the titular creatures hellbent on walking off a cliff from doing so. After years and years of this game, I would like to play something less stressful like Battletoads or Dark Souls.
This slips into the utilitarianism that progressives can be prone to. Simply put: if people want to live rural lives, then society should do whatever it can to make that sustainable. That’s what society is for
rural and exurban life is not sustainable. it has persisted despite the decimation of the industry that put people out there in the first place because when you got sick there was a hospital depending on medicaid cost sharing. as the population grows older, this of course only gets worse

I've been trying to avoid talking about true crime online.
But I gotta say, while I am relieved that there is an admission of guilt in the Idaho case,
I am absolutely heartbroken that it's all the family gets. Nothing else. No explanations. Just "yes."
The justice system is truly fucked.

the strange thing about h3h3/Ethan deciding to sue people over using content in his videos is that back in the 2010s I recall that *he* got sued over fair use
it's a dick move by Ethan (copyleft is good!) but it's not entirely something that can be treated as somehow an incorrect use of the law
