A couple good reminders about my Bluesky posts:

1. My posts reflect my own views and do not represent the views of my employer, or any organizations I represent.

2. I sometimes am wrong. I am not perfect—after all, I willingly cheer for Minnesota sports teams.

3. Land Back.
That's another journal manuscript submitted..I don't know if having a year as productive as 2025 will be sustainable for me over the long term, or even the medium or short term.

Still, it feels very nice to keep articles moving through the pipeline and hopefully into publication!

These pictures just jumped into the comment section of a 17 year old girl's selfie on Facebook and said "Very nice..."

My brother in Christ, why are you arguing with and threatening to block an AI?

Also, looks like I'm headed to Paris in May 2026 to present at the Latin American Studies Association conference. Allons-y!

Next year is looking like a year of books for me...

Starting with my first book, "Tales of an Indigenous Geographer", which is tentatively set for release in March/April 2026!

The best investment I make every year--a Moleskine planner, because I am schedule-challenged without a physical or digital calendar to lean on.

The second best investment--a healthy supply of correction tape dispensers, because schedules have that really annoying habit of changing quite often. 😆

URGENT CALL TO ACTION:

PORTLAND, ICE IS TRYING TO KIDNAP AND ABDUCT PEOPLE OUTSIDE SCHOOLS IN SAINT JOHNS NEIGHBORHOOD

The schools are on lockdown. They are asking for people to show up, cameras ready — also ready to be an " eye witness to a kiddo or family getting safely into their vehicle."

I'm wondering if it will be worth it to do some friendly smack talk to my department chair (who is a Purdue alumnus) about the football game this weekend:

Ol' Blake subsequently ran back to X and complained about how he was rightfully dragged for this opinion.
All drug use outside palliative care should be criminalized and possession of dealer quantities should be punishable by death without appeal.

I'm supposed to be flying to Texas later this month, and then on to Ohio, and back to Victoria. I am increasingly wondering if that trip is going to happen.
oh yeah my work trip is 1000% cancelled

Conservative feminism sounds like an oxymoron.

Today I stumbled upon a subreddit for Vancouver landlords and they are dooming big time over the ability of First Nations to enforce land claims, with all kinds of racist language and stereotypes.

You’d think they’d be all about paying what’s owed, isn’t that what they tell their tenants to do?

Disappointed that Minneapolis re-elected Jacob Frey, but St. Paul definitely did something great last night:

Kaohly Her surged in the second round of voting to become both the city's first female and Hmong mayor.

Why can I envision Max Liboiron shaking their head ruefully at the answer to that question?
Very disappointing to hear the university president respond to a question about Indigenization by talking about EDI. This is not the same thing. Indigenization will advance EDI, but EDI does not advance Indigenization. Indigenization is about sovereignty, not EDI. @munfaculty.bsky.social

Wild how this column says absolutely zero about Palestine or the very real retaliation that has been meted out to geographers in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death.

This video goes incredibly hard
New York assemblyman Zohran Mamdani confronts Border Czar Tom Homan today in Albany 👇🏻
November 5, 2025 at 5:11 AM
If what I'm hearing about Mamdani winning 18-29 males by 40% is true, the Democrats better be taking copious notes about how he did it, because they could literally break the GOP if they see even a fraction of that success with that age and gender group.

Very relatable thread.
hot take: Autistic people who take to leadership roles often engage w/ their position w/ the “servant leadership” approach, viewing their duty as being to the people that report to them, raising up peoples’ strengths to create successful autonomous teams

& the few of us skilled at that get promoted
