I was proud to be able to adopt a couple of Snorp at the weekend, at Notts Trans Pride. I think they're settling in well, and they make me smile.

They are adorable small #ClayCreatures with large personalities. Please look out for them.
#Snorp
It's Pride Month and the Snorp assembled for a photo before hunting down bad thoughts and leftover crumbs! You'll be seeing more of them this #pride so why not give them a share and a follow to find some in the wild! #nottingham #pride2025 #Snorp #claycreatures #handmade #crafts

Very powerful. You are a fantastic writer, Elsa, and we need your words and we need your satire. We need all of you. Thank you for sharing.

I hope the powers that be are listening.
Deep breath, lads.

In response to the proposed government disability cuts, I wrote a piece about my life before The Daily Tism (it includes a PIP assessment, a mental health crisis and iced Madeira cake). We’ll fight this with everything we’ve got.

#TakingThePip
I’m an autistic writer who is finally working. Without PIP, I wouldn’t have had a chance
How do you explain a PIP assessment to somebody who’s never had one?

Trans people are who they say they are.

If we allow people, even allies, to say that they are biologically not-that, then we are conceding a conceptual and rhetorical ground that we should not concede.

Wow! Just wow!

This is far too close for comfort.

This also covers days that aren't annual leave but are supposed to be non-working days for those like me who are not quite full-time!

I've been gender non-conforming all my life. I'm tired of people harassing & questioning me when I use public toilet spaces.

I know best which bathroom to use!

Also: I now define my gender as a non-binary lesbian. Get used to it!

Solidarity with all trans people.

This news day is going to shit, isn't it.

It feels like the most vulnerable people are being deliberately and cruelly targeted and denied the support and respect that keeps people alive.

Making hate and abuse the thing that’s protected tells us a lot about who we are. (Clue: really much more like those guys over the pond than we like to pretend!) As ever, the people who want to debate free speech just mean they want to use slurs.
“The OfS criticised the university's policy statement on Trans and Non-Binary equality, saying its requirement to "positively represent trans people" and an assertion that "transphobic propaganda [would] not be tolerated" could lead staff and students to "self-censor".” Uhhhhh
This is of very great concern. Labour has effectively declared war on trans academics and students. By defining transphobia as a “free speech” issue it is going to protect transphobes in higher education while preventing trans-inclusion. This is the opposite of “free speech”.

Absolutely surreal that the university has been fined more than half a million for pro-inclusion policies that they *didn't even enforce*. Stock left because students *exercised their free speech* and it made her uncomfortable.

I'm going to resist this one. At almost 56 years of age, I'm starting to tell myself that I don't have to be the one who has to solve everything, although it's harder to let go of the worry that creates. The emotional baggage is packed in tight. Everything's a work in progress.
“It’s not just about the unlit cigarette,” Hapworth continued. “Which will, of course, haunt my nightmares – it’s the principle. We might have needed that lighter to keep warm in the wilderness. If this was a real emergency, we’d all be dead.”
