WOW. @haleaziz.bsky.social with a new scoop: ICE now gets a running list of every person who is going to be taking a domestic flight inside the United States from the TSA and runs it through their database looking for targets. This explains the Babson College student's arrest.

There is a difference between righteous anger, directed at injustice, and hateful anger, directed at those who are different. Authoritarian regimes deliberately conflate the two to silence criticism and create false equivalence. It's important we don't let those in power succeed in this endeavor.

Remembering today when pro-GOP media erupted with outrage over Kamala Harris' warning that Trump had plans to militarize the national guard and deploy them on the streets of US cities. Indeed, he had such plans. And now he's implementing them.

Y’all, I can make this conversation about Gavin Newsom easier on my end.
I will not support anyone who is openly anti trans and openly against unhoused people.
You can tell me all your reasons for supporting him, and I will simply say this.
Explain why your rights are more important than theirs.

This is correct and it's why public opinion doesn't actually do anything on its own. It has to be mobilized. You have to DO politics.
My sense of things has always been that most people do not have strong, deeply felt opinions on a lot of policy issues, and so their opinions can change fairly quickly depending on what’s in the news.
Why do people's opinions on a single issue change with the direction of the wind?

I've been saying for a while now that one of the main problems with the Democratic Party is that they've abandoned their in person campaign efforts. You can't just fundraise and post and expect to win an election, you need to organize.
the thing that's striking to me, against the backdrop of 'social media savvy' and 'online organizing' and 'data', which takes up so much oxygen in the discourse, is just how old school his whole deal is. show up, meet people where they are, speak to their concerns, be charming, be authentic

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

Biden didn't get credit because he didn't take credit. His admin was staffed by moderates who were reluctant to enact progressive reform and ashamed to tell anyone
In general, Biden was more accommodating of the left than any Dem president in my lifetime and, to a first approximation, it got him *nothing*. No credit, no support, not even acknowledgement.
