Sadly, we have seen a big increase in avian flu cases in the UK - particularly in waterfowl

Whilst the risk to the public remains assessed as very low, Government advice is not to touch any visibly sick or dead birds, and to keep pets away

#teammoth A new one for me in my N.Wilts garden. This rather beautiful micro, Gold Triangle, in it's spreadeagle pose. They are often associated with squirrel dreys.

#teammoth A nice collection of moths last night. Standout for me was this stunning Yellow Shell. It looks like a painting, but this image is straight out of the camera!

#teammoth #insect A very colourful bycatch from last night. A leaf hopper, which I think is Acericerus ribauti. Directly under a Sycamore, so makes sense.

#teammoth Loads of moths in and around last nights trap here in my N.Wilts garden. Some taking flight as I approached the trap at 6.30 am, unidentified others escaping while I tried to photo them!!! Getting increasingly frustrated!!!! Then found this beauty underneath the sheet. All is now well. 😁

@georgemcgavin.bsky.social my grandson took this photo of a Chrysops whilst on holiday in Devon last week. Narrowing species down further is proving to be a challenge! We'd be grateful if you could help please.

What do you think, please @mothiduk.bsky.social #teammoth. I hope I've narrowed it down to Small Engrailed, Engrailed or Willow Beauty. Unfortunately I can't remember the actual size, it's all a bit hectic at 6.00 am!

On the longest day of the year, and one of the hottest too, many of us will be heading outside for al fresco dining.

Remember, leave your BBQs at home - the landscape is tinder-dry and just a small spark can lead to miles of devastating damage.

Spread a love of nature, not a fire. Thank you.
