#teammoth Another couple of new ones in my N.Wilts garden from the other night. Brown-spot Pinion and a Pink-barred sallow. Also a nice Red-green Carpet. A night of colour and double barrelled names!

#teammoth Very quiet last night, only 4 species, but a couple where new ones for me! Tawny Pinion, which I found whilst setting up the light trap!! And a Black Rustic, a very smart looking moth.

#teammoth A new one for me in my N.Wilts garden. This rather beautiful micro, Gold Triangle, in it's spreadeagle pose. They are often associated with squirrel dreys.

#teammoth Becoming increasingly distracted by the bycatch!!! From last night a Pine Ladybird and a V Click Beetle.

#teammoth @mothiduk.bsky.social Need help with this one from last night, please. Obs says Wormwood Pug! But I'm not so sure?

#teammoth A nice collection of moths last night. Standout for me was this stunning Yellow Shell. It looks like a painting, but this image is straight out of the camera!

#teammoth #insect A very colourful bycatch from last night. A leaf hopper, which I think is Acericerus ribauti. Directly under a Sycamore, so makes sense.

##teammoth Gypsy moth from last night in my N.Wilts garden. Is anyone else getting these?

#teammoth @mothiduk.bsky.social Probably should have also got a side shot of this but could do with help with id please. Might not even be a moth!??

#teammoth Loads of moths in and around last nights trap here in my N.Wilts garden. Some taking flight as I approached the trap at 6.30 am, unidentified others escaping while I tried to photo them!!! Getting increasingly frustrated!!!! Then found this beauty underneath the sheet. All is now well. 😁

@georgemcgavin.bsky.social my grandson took this photo of a Chrysops whilst on holiday in Devon last week. Narrowing species down further is proving to be a challenge! We'd be grateful if you could help please.

What do you think, please @mothiduk.bsky.social #teammoth. I hope I've narrowed it down to Small Engrailed, Engrailed or Willow Beauty. Unfortunately I can't remember the actual size, it's all a bit hectic at 6.00 am!

#teammoth A nice lot of moths, last night, in my N.Wilts garden. New ones for me were Swallow-tailed Moth, Pearly Underwing and Common Lutestring.

#teammoth @mothiduk.bsky.social Today at Wilts Wildlife Trust Blakehill reserve. Please help with id. Five-spot Burnet or Narrow-bordered Five-spot?? Obsid says Five-spot but I'm not convinced!

#teammoth Slightly damp and a bit quiet here in my N.Wilts garden. Nethertheless a Brown Silver-line - new for garden. Also Willow Beauty, Riband Wave, and Small Dusty Wave.

#teammoth Nothing completely new last night from my N.Wilts garden but several NFY, Yellow-barred Brindle, Common Marbled Carpet, Large Yellow Underwing, Rustic Shoulder-knot, Spectacle and Willow Beauty

#teammoth Last nights trap in my N.Wilts garden revealed the first Light Emerald and Vine's Rustic of the year, and a Flame Carpet, a first for the garden.
May 19, 2025 at 9:04 AM
#teammoth 2 Grass-veneers from Highworth Golf Course, N.Wilts, yesterday. One I think is Crambus pratella and the other Chrysoteuchia culmella.
May 19, 2025 at 8:49 AM
#teammoth Slightly disapointing last night in my N.Wilts garden. Nevertheless, Common Swift was a first for garden, Lychnis and Treble Lines were first for year. Nearly missed this Pale Tussock, camouflaged perfectly with the egg box!
May 17, 2025 at 9:30 AM
#teammoth @mothiduk.bsky.social I'm thinking a fresh Garden Carpet but on the other hand it could be a Common Carpet?? What do you think, please?
