I am Grounds Manager for a 37acre estate, for the Oxford Said Business school, I manage it as sustainably as I can and for the Biodiversity, before anything else, I am a professional gardener, who is diversifying into Ecology and conservation.
A few weeks ago I had a wonderful but somewhat soggy day at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education centre run by @BBOWT taking part in a hurdle making course.

It was a great day and I'd recommend giving it a go.

The weekend just gone we went for a lovely walk and foraged lots of Hawthorn berries, cooking apples, and elderberries. Sunday I spent the day making Hawthorn ketchup and apple chutney which was a 1st time. I’ve also made plenty of plum jam and cherry plum jam this yr.

This wild flower patch used to be kept mown short, then during lockdown I let it grow and was amazed at how many wildflowers came up. I started to let it grow naturally every spring and this is want we get now

While checking for more Orchids, I stumbled upon this beautiful young fawn. The parents were probably not far away, so I did not get too close. I took this at full zoom at arms length and then had to crop in to the image.

I quickly and quietly backed away and left them in peace.

The Pyramidal Orchids (Anacamptis pyramidalis) have now started appearing, and it looks like it is going to be a really good year for them. I was starting to worry! 😊

Another beautiful morning, an early run with the hound. Best time to be out, sun rising dawn chorus, low ground mist just perfect!

Many people know that I am a lover of books, and this is my latest book haul, I do try to buy second hand, text books as they can be expensive, and rightly so, when you think about the the amount of time and research that goes into them. 4 books for education, 1 for a fun educational read

I took this photo back in March, out large pond was full of Frogs and Toads. I did not have time to try and count them and even if I did I don't think it would have been very accurate.

I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh
