Amazing, the @dailymail.co.uk manages to publish an entire lengthy feature bewailing (!!!!) the exodus of Poles from Britain without once mentioning Brexit. Apparently this outcome (which is surely exactly what they campaigned for in 2016) is all the fault of Keir Starmer.

The great exodus: How Poles are ditching UK for their booming homeland
New statistics reveal that while 7,000 Poles arrived in the year ending last June, 25,000 returned home: a net outflow of 18,000. The UK's total Polish population has shrunk to 750,000.

Nothing says "smash the political establishment" quite like begging the Prime Minister to put your mates in the unelected House of Lords.

The EU and Oz are doing a fantastic job reviewing the unfettered practices of social media and other internet operators. It's wholly to be expected that Google etc will scream and shout about 'stifling innovation' but I'm delighted that the industry is facing some much-needed controls at last.

Nigel Farage won't apologise for his history of racism because "if he apologised, he would be turning to his own support base and saying, ‘You’re all guilty too,'" a Reform source tells the Times.

So essentially he was a racist and he believes his supporters are racists too

So tell me again how Nigel Farage, who just took the largest ever political donation, from a Tory mega-donor, and another donation from the Viscountess wife of the non-dom owner of the Daily Mail, is planning to "take on the establishment"

Just putting it out there: I hang up the moment an AI voice reveals itself. I also make a mental note of the business that doesn't care enough about people to use AI in this way.

Now that the OBR has backed Rachel Reeves, I see the 'discussion', according to the BBC, must turn to whether the affair has done her and Starmer damage. In other news, I am now trying to work out whether my failure to go for a walk this morning has caused the blister on my foot which isn't there.

I mean there's plenty the leader of the opposition could have used to attack the Chancellor's handling of the Budget and yet she chooses... the one thing that Reeves had absolutely nothing to do with.

Mind-boggling

@skysportpl.bsky.social can you enquire why, when play was stopped for 5 mins 30 secs for the Red Card incident (from whistle to whistle) and there were at least two other injury stoppages and numerous yellow cards, the ref only added on 5 mins and 10 seconds? Fans have been cheated.

Is it time for native Americans to start telling everyone non-native to get the hell out of their country? White aliens should go first, I think (after orange ones, of course).

Tory culture spox demanding the BBC "grovel" to Trump is baffling. Who is this supposed to chime with?

Just a bizarre line that no one who doesn't use X would ever think.

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

Johnson’s cull of MPs prepared to tell the truth about Brexit consigned the Tories to the absurdity & irrelevance they currently enjoy. The media’s pitiful complicity in & failure to explain this lets Farage move in to the vacated space despite embodying the stupidity & bigotry that did for them.

Nigel Farage doesn’t think the Prime Minister should have free speech in this country. But he’ll tell foreigners that yours is somehow under threat from the Prime Minister. He’s a whiny little liar. Always has been. Always will be.

What a surprise. Trump engineering an outcome that suits him and Russia and screws Ukraine: USA gets minerals and walks away; Russia grabs more of Ukraine and ensures USA gets minerals. Ukraine ceases to exist. If Charles meets orange fascist in the autumn, damage to the monarchy will be terminal.

It is now sadly clear: the extreme right wing is seeking to take over the civilised world and carve up its enemies for selfish nationalistic gains. Unfortunately, it seems, there are currently too few moderates, in positions of power, willing (or awake enough) to stand up and confront it...
