Free David Huerta!
Military style ICE raids in our communities. David Huerta was beaten and dragged away.

Because he saw them and stood up for justice. Because he’s not afraid.

Neither are we.

If other countries shot at a Canadian delegation, they wouldn’t get off with a finger wagging. Canada needs to sanction and boycott Israel.
Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand says that four of Canada’s personnel were part of a delegation in the West Bank when Israel Defense Forces fired shots in their vicinity. She expects a full investigation.

The IDF literally fired warning shots at 25 diplomats including from Canada, the UK, and Italy and then had the gall to say they “regretted the inconvenience caused.”

Is our government really just going to accept that?

Rogue state.
Israeli soldiers intentionally fired at a delegation of about 30 Arab & EU diplomats, ambassadors and consuls, visiting Jenin refugee camp, in the West Bank. Israel claims "it was an accident" and that they fired "warning shots" because they "felt in danger". Israel was trying to intimidate them.

Israel assassinated an injured journalist by flying a suicide drone into his hospital room.

All they have to do is say "he was a member of Hamas", without providing any evidence, and a shocking number of people will say to themselves "well I guess they had to do it".
Why did Israel kill Palestinian journalist Hassan Eslaih?
"This was an assassination, plain and simple," Tamer Qishta, a Gaza-based journalist who worked closely with Eslaih, said to The New Arab.

Solidarity with Palestinian workers isn't optional, it's essential.
Palestine is a labour issue; May should be a month of solidarity
Labour has a proud history of standing up for those experiencing oppression, and the violence being brought against Palestinian civilians is no different.

Daniel makes an interesting point here: AI separates the value of "the thing itself" from the value, in terms of human relationships, that comes from a person having created the thing. It enables the creation of products shorn from the context of human relationships.
oh god, we are so fucked

“'I guess the question is what is the value of the thing you’re given? Is it that they created it? Or is the value of the thing itself? In the past, giving someone a letter usually did both.' These days, he sends handwritten notes — after he has drafted them using ChatGPT."

It's just completely out in the open now.

Reminder that Israel is still Canada's bestest friend and strategic partner.

We need an arms embargo. We need BDS. We can't keep enabling this.

One of the more pernicious aspects of the Gaza famine is the way Israel has weaponized the narrative of the local Hamas gov't stealing and hoarding aid. Civilian police in Gaza seem to be securing aid by fighting armed looters, but the IDF targets them to worsen the crisis.

Hamas officials accused some of the looters of working in collaboration with Israel, which has sealed off aid from entering Gaza for the past two months. Israel has not commented on the allegation.

It would be quite funny if this absurd bill raised the profile of BDS.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen something so simultaneously absurd and disturbing: the House will vote
Monday on a bill that would punish Americans for participating in boycotts of Israel with fines of up to $1 MILLION or prison terms up to TWENTY YEARS.

Tomorrow marks two months since Israeli forces began a total blockade on Gaza. No food, water, medicine or fuel has entered since March 2nd.

A reminder that Gaza is smaller than the City of St. John's but houses about 2 million people. They are dying of famine.
Gaza’s Health Ministry urges the UN to declare a famine, saying 92% of children and pregnant women now suffer from severe malnutrition.

The Liberals won this round only because of the exogenous shock of Trump's trade war and annexation threats. The long term trend still favours the Conservatives.

Let's get off our high horses. This result merely kicks the can down the road.
Because the Cons got a 41% of the popular vote (vs. 43% for Libs), gained 25 seats (vs. 8 for Libs), greatly outperformed projections, made significant gains in the GTA, lost because of the Trump effect and temporary collapse of NDP and Bloc, and another election could happen within a few years.
Why the hell would the Conservatives allow PP to stay on as leader? LOL
