the takeaway from the Zohran Trump meeting is that Trump is a gullible fool who will temporarily bend to the last charismatic person he talked to.

Zohran played him perfectly but that doesn’t mean Trump is good now. He’ll go back to fascism tomorrow morning after he talks to Stephen Miller

Zohran Mamdani doesn’t make me, an American Jew, feel unsafe.

Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isn’t really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

Wakefield’s research was fraudulent. It wasn’t a matter of debate or interpretation, he made shit up and lost his license as a result. Fuck RFK Jr. for trying to validate him. And where are Congressional Dems on this? Where’s the bill to impeach RFK Jr.?
GOP Sen. Ron Johnson is crowing about Robert Kennedy Jr.’s CDC pushing debunked vaccine misinformation.

“Time to apologize to Dr. Andrew Wakefield and all the others who were maligned and vilified for simply asking the right questions,” he says.

Wakefield’s paper was *fraudulent.*

It's clearer by the day that Columbia making a deal with Trump in July was a catastrophe for higher education as a whole. It gave terrible people a bottomless appetite for extortion. The other eight universities must follow MIT's lead.

The number of federal troops needed in Portland is ZERO.

Donald Trump is using taxpayer dollars to manufacture a crisis. If he really wanted to help Oregon, he would reverse cuts to Medicaid and support funding for housing and education.

Trump is posthumously awarding Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Vance flew his casket on Air Force 2. A memorial is happening at The Kennedy Center.

State Dept and Pentagon are taking steps to prevent criticism of Kirk.

This is NOT normal treatment for an extremist. It’s a message.

Trump has been president for 100 days—and he’s made a deliberate attempt to flood the system and exhaust the public.

It can be hard for most people to keep up. That's by design.

As a candidate, Trump said he'd lower prices. As president, here's what he's done 🧵

That’s my senator! Keep fighting @wyden.senate.gov !!!
Wyden’s “over my dead body” attitude toward the privatization of social security on the senate finance committee is bracing, but I also think he just made a really impactful smart point about how Medicaid cuts mean nursing homes will close in Oregon. that might be a useful data point for some folks

The science done at the hutch and care provided by the hutch gave me precious bonus years with my parents. When my mom was diagnosed in 2005 with a rare cancer, her prognosis was a year at best. She got 14 years from experimental research by the late Ollie Press and colleagues. 1/
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is a major NIH-supported hospital and research center in Seattle.

And NIH funds many essential clinical trials that cannot be supported by the private sector. This is devastating.
An oncology nurse told me yesterday that NIH supported (but not pharma supported) clinical trials have been paused at Fred Hutch 😢

I was walking through an old cemetery with my kids today, and they asked why there were so many graves of babies. I explained that they died before vaccines and antibiotics, and felt immensely grateful to be parenting in the era of modern medicine. It is asinine to turn our backs on what we have.
First, they said postponed; now the meeting is canceled. That means no flu shots next year.

“'It’s a six-month production cycle,' Dr. Offit said. 'So one can only assume that we’re not picking flu strains this year.'"

Fundamentally, that's a form of mass murder.

Congress didn’t pass a law requiring NIH-funded trials to include women until 1993. Drug trials with government funding only started including women in the NINETIES

And that’s only drug trials! And not ones with private funding!

Health research FAMOUSLY excludes women.

Unreal. The US government is dumping Asian and African families and children in random countries that they have no connection to. Dumping, not "deporting." Deportation implies the return of a person to their home country. This is treating people like toxic waste.
