ICE is upset that ICE isn't welcome in restaurants after ICE ordered food at a restaurant, ate it, then arrested restaurant employees, and ICE believes this is someone else's fault, do I have that right?

Did Trump’s 2024 re-election make it okay to be openly prejudiced? New work from @chriscrandall.bsky.social suggests it did. The more negatively Trump spoke about a group, the more okay it became to express prejudice (and the more prejudiced people were) towards that group after the election.

How many STEM Ph.D.s were lost from the U.S. federal government last year?

My colleagues @mghersher.bsky.social and @policyhound.bsky.social dug into a recent data release to find the answer. A @science.org exclusive.

This is a MUST-READ affidavit.

This eyewitness to Alex Pretti’s murder — who is too scared to even go home because she doesn’t trust federal agents — directly refutes what the feds are saying happened today:

The same people who have long said people need guns to protect themselves from the government now seem to think it's OK for the government to shoot people if they have guns.

Bellingcat took a very close look at the killing, which clearly contradicts the DHS narrative

Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

I find the new OSF to be a bit confusing. Also, I’m not sure this existed before, but it seems like PsyArXiv now gives a DOI for every version which is quite annoying (eg., if you upload something and then update it, they are two independent DOIs).

If it helps, I just apply to what speaks to me and let the universe sort it all out. So far, the grants that I was highly discouraged from applying to or didn't seem "worth it" to others have been the most career-impactful (i.e., keeping me employed).

New paper from us -- open access! Across 3 studies, we show that early visual attention to tempting or rewarding cues is flexible — and that simply identifying a self‑control conflict can make people inattentive to temptations. Self‑control starts with seeing the conflict.
