Guys, I don't know what to do. My son asked me a question no father wants to hear. He...he asked if we could listen to Ska 😭

LAST POST!

WOTC's go-to response is "Commander is casual, just engage with the products you like, you don't need to chase the latest cards"

Commander is a multiplayer game. If anyone in my group / LGS engages with the latest products and I play w/ them, I have to engage in it too! WOTC knows this

Four cards, one type that speak to the way you play Magic:

My graveyard is the hand everyone knows about but some people forget about.

Four cards, four card types that are hugely influential to the way you enjoy Magic:
(I think these cards unlocked my love of reanimator, creature sacrifice, and paying life)

by age 30 you should have:

* strong opinions about birds
* 12 different "when i get time" projects on indefinite hiatus
* sandwich(es) you fruitlessly yearn to have again
* a growing list of obituaries you're looking forward to reading
* parasocial friendships with other people's pets

My birthday gift this year from my lovely wife was a project idea: Build the Ultimate Collector Series A-Wing Lego set using random bricks found at a local store. The brick collection journey was incredibly satisfying, and the build was doubly so.

I present to you, the rainbow build A-Wing:

My birthday gift this year was a trip to Bricks and Minifigs to start a Rainbow Build of a Lego A-Wing 😁 I'm really looking forward to the project, we must have spent 5 hours digging through the bins with the printed out piece list, found maybe 2/3rds of the bricks needed.

Woo! Old cards are fun - they deserve to be talked about!
This is Anger's forgotten sibling Valor. First strike for your whole board makes for a heck of a rattlesnake on your battlefield.

I never thought one of my favorite Magic decks would be Blue/Red. This little halfling just does it for me though. $25 budget bracket 2 unsleeved deck that wants to see mountains again, mountains Gandalf!

How to build a five color legend:

1. Put a bunch of abilities on it that let you play cards for free.

2. Pretend it’s interesting and balanced because it was once tricky to make five colors of mana back in 2006.

3. ???

4. Profit.

I'm praying for ICE agents today.

May they not know a moment's peace until they quit, and seek amends.

May their children revile them.
May their parents regret them.
May they know they deserve the hatred and distrust of their countrymen.

And may all their tomatoes be underripe and flavorless.

Final Fantasy Prerelease was a lot of fun. The custom Hero Tokens were a great addition. Went 2-1, it was a fun sealed environment, lots of artifacts and legends running around.

So this chart popped into my head as a very rough tool. Not perfect and I'm not sure on the exact breakpoints for different Brackets (especially 4 & 5), but I feel it's a decent visualization.

Four cards to get to know me

Erinis - my favorite, always. Graveyard lands in five flavors.
Silverglade Pathfinder - A great example of a Spellshaper (discard a land for Erinis to grab while ramping!)
Chainer - my first commander from my childhood collection.
Necrologia - greatness at any cost.

Just FYI I AM the Jeweled Lotus defender but a lot of you dipshits made it impossible to defend because from a game perspective I will fight for its freedom, from a social perspective this thing stays forbidden longer because yall thought it was chill to say some awful shit to people

Saw the "judge me based on my commander decks" posts and thought they looked fun. If I had to narrow the list to four I think these might be it.

The Bracket image leaves a lot of the nuance (from the article) about player intent out of the conversation. I, with input from the available members of the CFP, reworked the image to include it.

Ask yourself, "What is the intent of this deck? What kind of experience am I looking for?"

If I were going to Magic Con Chicago I'd bring my Swappable background deck led by Erinis, Gloom Stalker. It lives in my @quivertime.com full time with my unsleeved Bilbo deck and my Dandan deck 🥰 room for two more commander decks to boot!
