Okay this is horrible but hilariously would also preclude 99% of state "think of the children" social media deanonymization laws and 100% of the attempts to regulate social media under "defective product" theories of action because it's so broadly written lol
This is insane. Republicans have inserted language into the budget reconciliation bill that would ban states from regulating AI in any capacity for 10 years.

If anyone has ever told you that a fancy text trick you used on socisl media is inaccessible to screenreader users and you didn't understand why, this is a great video that demonstrates the problem super clearly!
Your periodic reminder that "fancy fonts" on places like Bluesky are unicode & are a nightmare for screen reader users. DON'T use for your name

Not only that, good lucky having anyone search for you in the search bar by name.

The first ballot details have leaked :D
WSJ's reporting agrees with what I'd heard: the Latin American cardinals had coalesced around Prevost even before the conclave, and provided the base of his support, which then attracted those opposed to Italian Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

Pope Leo's first sermon and, uh, his using the phrase "be ever more fully a city set upon a hill" and cf'ing it to Rev 21:10 instead of any of the others before saying "many baptized Christians" are "living in a state of practical atheism" is. Well. Shots fired!

A thing to keep in mind: Francis had a real interest in AI. He reportedly dispatched clergy to Silicon Valley *early* on to meet with folks developing it. Several big players visited the Vatican…
