Bertrand Russell once received letters from Sir Oswald Mosley, the founder of the British Union of Fascists, inviting him to a debate. Russell not only declined but replied quite generally that “nothing fruitful or sincere could ever emerge from association between us.” @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social

This is also why democracy scares every single warmonger who currently holds power.
It’s worse than “Gaza is being starved and destroyed and no one cares.” It’s that hundreds of millions *do* care and are powerless to stop it. We need a world where that can never happen, where the masses actually have political power.

Effectivement!

Is this really what passes as the “new left” these days? Also one of the few pieces in the issue that is not behind a paywall 😱

Steve Kerr 💜 I imagine his dad would be proud.

Steve Kerr wore a Harvard basketball shirt after the Warriors’ win tonight: “Yes, this is me supporting Harvard. Way to go. Way to stand up to the bully.”

Dean Gallagher was a professor at UofM when I was a grad student there. It is absolutely WILD to see insanely dumb and tone-deaf messages written by people who I once thought were smart scholars and good people. “We apologize for the inconvenience” of trampling all over academic freedom.
I was scheduled to give a talk on Palestine at a student conference at @notredame.bsky.social. The University rescinded my talk a week in advance citing an extremely flimsy excuse. It is truly disgusting. Attached is the letter I received and my reply, link below...

So true.
I’ve said this before but I’m truly becoming convinced the best long term anti-fascist policy is absolutely massive funding for the arts to the point where the worst actor in the world can get a grant to put on their own show. I swear it’s the high these people are chasing but have no idea they are
Bezos, Zuck, et al have succeeded more wildly than they could ever have dreamed in monetary terms. But they’re still trying to win the games we set ourselves to consider our lives successful. And have judged that making epic moral compromises is the least worst route to this success.

American Zionist shoots two Israeli tourists because he thought they were Palestinians, and then the injured Israelis call the attack antisemitic and call for "death to Arabs" -- it's just the turducken of Zionism as pathology.

On May 10, 1933, Nazis burned the library of The Institute for Sexual Science.

The Institute was founded by Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld. Its community clinic pioneered healthcare for queer, trans, & intersex people.

The Institute was targeted & attacked as part of a Nazi government censorship program.

Tbh, we're going to see a lot more of this as the rest of the generation that remembers the holocaust dies out and is replaced by young boomers/gen X'ers who were told the entirety of their formative years that the Jewish people faced an existential threat, and that threat was Palestinians

It's not the most important thing in the world, but it's worth noting that this person was signal boosting the ADL leader's insane rant accusing MSNBC anchors of being de facto "Hamas supporters" because they had the audacity to acknowledge that civilians live in Gaza.

Honestly, all the people on here who are excited about tonight’s clown show should take a minute to think if this guy’s VP really is the alternative they are looking for… since all is see in US politics these days is racist, genocidal drivel.

This should be in the headlines, not the fact that the war criminal from the early 2000s endorsed the enablers of war criminals from 2024.

I need people who are deep into the yass queen shit with Harris and Walz to understand exactly why I will forever view them with deep fucking suspicion 👇 if you are willing to yass queen politicians who are on board with genocide then you need to fix your fucking soul.
That this really did ultimately have to happen is positively fucked
