In general, if we think someone is engaging in bad faith, my belief is that the only *winning* move is to disengage

Continuing to engage because we enjoy it is prolly neutral-to-bad, but it can be entertaining. If it's no longer entertaining, then it's just bad.

The market becomes its own regulator; a distributed organism selecting for rent-seeking behavior. A self-enforcing enclosure that’s not ideological but algorithmic.

Not hyperbole. There are even professional investors who have named this and attempted to combat its apparently inexorable logic. Predictably, the efforts themselves often begin well before being captured.
