For the 3rd year, nations at COP29 have pledged to "cook their kids" alive. Chaired by petro-state Azerbaijan & awash with 1,773 oil lobbyists, it promised only crumbs: $300B for climate aid vs $7T in fossil subsidies. Earth edges closer to uninhabitable. #ClimateCrisis #COP29 #auspol

It’s MUCH worse than this.

Yesterday taught us that ~ 1 in 2 people support major parties.

They are DESPERATE to hold on to relevance and power.

They will stop at NOTHING to stack what’s left of the deck in their favour.

Q to election ‘25 voters…

What are they doing for you?

#auspol
Pocock and Lambie are right.

$800k is too little to run a successful independent challenge.

Excluding Dai Le, every new independent who spent under $800k or less in 2022 lost.

The smallest successful campaign: $973k.

"Illusion of due process" is right.

I’m legitimately terrified for the US now.

So, Vance is proposing that the executive should be exempt from the laws the judiciary applies?

In other words the government’s above the law?

the LOTO’s claims show a “complete misunderstanding” of his unclear #nuclear policy — a policy that will drive up bills.

Hear, hear!
Don't get too angry - just find an independent who represents your views and will continue to over the course of the parliament and vote/donate/volunteer for them. The duopoly is utterly self absorbed and serves no-one but itself and has to be taken down. The trend of the past 12 years is clear!

May the Lesser candidate lose Berowra ;-) And Nic smashes Bradfield - she had a great campaign launch today too. As an ex-Tinker, I’m feeling hopeful about Zali continuing her success up my way. LNP heartland is dead.

1. British imperialist colonisation’s aim was to establish a penal colony, _not_ a “bold experiment”.
2. Mars _is_ terra nullius; “Australia” has been populated by more than 250 First Nations peoples for more than 60K years.

because politics is too important to leave to coal executives like those charming fellows from ‘coal australia’ and their astroturf LNP campaigners.

🤓 in just 6 years, australia's two main grids added 51 TWh/yr of wind+solar generation.

…taking us from 19.9% → 38.8% renewables.

…this is equivalent to 6.6 large #nuclear reactors, but at much lower cost & much faster.

…even more impressive given there's no chance of nuclear here for 20+ years.

The reason people vote for a community independent is simple. Look at Kate Chaney's record on her voting:

51% of ALP-moved motions;

49% of Coalition-moved motions; and

52% of Greens-moved motions.

They vote for the issue, not the party
The fastest growing political party in Australia isn't a party at all.

Approximately 1/3 of voting Australians didn't vote for any of the major parties at the '22 election.

The rise of the community independents, candidates not beholden to any party, is changing our political scene for the better.
