I think a lot of the discussion around AI isn't specific enough or informed enough, and that's why this piece from @edmondtran.bsky.social is so useful and important. These are actual concept artists spelling out in clear, unambiguous terms why Gen-AI is not only unhelpful, it's a nuisance.

You can take any subject you like, no exam, no certificate, just learning for fun. She's now learning gardening, music, philosophy, and some geopolitics. There are farmers travelling all the way to the school everyday to learn. This is 1000x better than stupid elderly home which basically kill elderly quickly rather than care. The AAA games industry* is increasingly seeing generative AI as the silver bullet to solve long development cycles and rising labor costs. They may not announce it like below, but they're all implementing it within development pipelines.

*Pretty much all large game devs at this point.

Consider the implications if ChatGPT started saying "I don't know" to even 30% of queries - a conservative estimate based on the paper's analysis of factual uncertainty in training data. Users accustomed to receiving confident answers to virtually any question would likely abandon such systems rapidly.
