the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

A month into Frey’s 2nd term, Amir Locke was killed by MPD Officer Mark Hanneman while executing a no-knock warrant.

Turns out Frey’s line about no-knock warrants was a lie.

what trump posted is true and has always been true: you can’t deport 20M people and have due process. it’s an either/or proposition. which is why the mass deportation promise was always inherently authoritarian. no guarantee voters would’ve listened but i wish someone with influence had tried

I’m disappointed that the Mayor and Chief declined to condemn the homophobic, sexist, and threatening comments lobbed at my colleagues and I on the dais.

Minneapolis should be a welcoming and safe city for all.
