I get that legally he's not wrong but morally it's such a weak point. Suggesting Allianz Ireland has nothing to do with Allianz globally, because of a lack of financial ties, is nonsense. It's still the same brand.

Surely the GAA could find a sponsor not complicit in Gaza?

Four months after it was promised, we finally have the government's transport investment plan between now and 2030. It's bad. Roads are in, public transport is out. A lot of public transport projects being put on the long-finger to make funding available for new roads.

The more asylum seekers there are, the more pressure there is on the asylum seeking system, not the general housing system.

FF and FG know exactly what they're doing here by conflating asylum seeking with housing, which they have mismanaged. Appalling #tonightvmtv

The so-called "red tape" that needs cutting is Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael's chaotic housing policies that created and then compounded the housing crisis.

Zero point trying to blame anything or anyone else, or trying to pretend that the financialisation of housing isn't a core ideological failure.

Also consistent with youth vote discourse. If young people don't vote, it's seen as their fault. But if conservative voters don't vote/spoil, it's seen as a system failure.

Low turnout = people voting with their feet due to poor representation, regardless of where they stand #aras25 #áras25

For all the talk of the spoil the vote campaign as a conservative coalition, it's worth noting the Burkes released several videos to encourage people to vote for Humphreys, and that they heavily criticised Ganley and Steen. They weren't as unified as the left were for Connolly #aras25 #áras25

Connolly's younger volunteers and organisers are fantastic and deserve huge credit.

Smart, optimistic, strategic, disciplined, tapped into culture, positive message-bearers, excellent communicators.

It's so great to see people putting their energy into a movement that expresses hope. 🇮🇪

Appreciating it's a lot of work to complete this info, but can reporters please give some indication/example of what good turnout by 5pm is if they're going to report raw percentages? Like compared to the last few elections/referendums, should we expect over 30/40% turnout by 5pm? #áras25 #aras25

Is Humphreys equating going to the Gaeltacht with learning Irish? You can also learn it in classes in Dublin.

Also did she just say she only spent one week in the Gaeltacht when she was minister? #áras25 #aras25

I can't find any evidence in this article that Connolly made a strongly worded personal criticism of Humphreys.

Personal criticisms have not been "traded". It's clearly coming from one side who are trying to win by dragging everyone down with them

From the last 20 minutes I saw tonight of #áras25 debate Connolly looked presidential. To me she's showing that she can be both a values-led meaningful critic and the type of leader/statesperson that the president has always been in my lifetime.
It strikes me that Jim Gavin and Catherine Connolly have the opposite issues to prove they are to win #áras25. Connolly has the experience as a politician, but is seen by some as too anti-establishment. Gavin has a career representing the establishment but needs to prove himself as a politician

I cannot stress enough that every candidate had seven years to get their ducks in a row here. That she chose to try at the last minute and feels affronted that she failed actually speaks to the deep level of privilege which she is being rightly criticised for about her bag.
