I'm so glad I bought some cloaks. Medieval fashion is making a comeback.
Gentle reminder: everything is awful so you may as well go ahead and start dressing like a wizard in public.

Agreed, far too much flag-shagging. My kid's primary school shared a video of some of the students pretending to march. It felt like creepy fetishism.

The tech industry only ever has two positions on any proposed tech regulation:

(1) Don’t regulate us. It’s too early. Our tech is still developing.

(2) Don’t regulate us. It’s too late. Our tech is everywhere.

An excerpt from James Ray's personnel file, a man that Pope Leo XIV shielded and moved to a friary near an elementary school. He did not inform the school of Ray's presence.

Another key difference is that the answers calculators provide are accurate
People keep comparing ChatGPT to a calculator to me and like even if it were that simple of a comparison you still need to learn math. You still need to be able to count and do arithmetic before you rely on the calculator. And you should be able to do easy math in your head and by hand

Hey @edzitron.com, why can't you see the wonderful uses of generative AI? Seriously though, bonkers shit like this needs to be swiftly censured and banned. What kind of judge allows this?

I want to give credit to Metz/Weise here for stating plainly that LLMs cannot decide that something is or isn't true or false. Stating the actual, real limitations of these models is necessary, and it's good to finally see this happening in the mainstream media without any throat clearing

OpenAI loses money on every user (inc. pro users at $200/mo). Love the irony that the most ardent defenders are actively contributing to them hemorrhaging money and remaining unprofitable.

Would frivolous prompts to help them hemorrhage money faster? Where my #Luddites at? 🤖🔨

"NZ has a luddite approach to ai" that word doesn't mean what you think it means but good. We should be critical of the technology that threatens job security and livelihoods when businesses and corporations look to use it (badly) to cut costs aka avoid having to pay workers.
