NC Senate will return July 29th for veto override votes, GOP Senate leader Phil Berger announces. Measures would then go to House, where they'd need at least one Dem to cross party lines or two Dems to be absent when a vote is called, assuming all Republicans are present. #ncpol

Wiley Nickel, so far the only major candidate in the race for #NCSEN, reported raising $537,968 in Q2 (4/1 -6/30).

Part of what’s so interesting about the selection of Sydney Batch is that she had a very interesting way of moving up through the ranks.

In 2018, she was elected to the NC House, beating an incumbent and flipping a district in southern Wake County by just 2 points…

Another shocking day in #ncpol. After 40 years in the legislature, Sen. Dan Blue, 75, has been replaced as Minority Leader by fellow Wake Sen. Sydney Batch, 45, currently in her sixth year in the legislature.

Blue became the first Black NC House Speaker in 1991, serving until 1995. #ncleg
