Rep. Mark Harris wants the National Guard to help fight crime in Charlotte. Data shows that the more rural parts of his district have a higher rate of violent crime. www.ncrabbithole.com/p/republican...
GOP congressmen want the National Guard in Charlotte. Here's where violent crime is a bigger problem.
Sure, the data can't always tell the entire story. But one representative who's asking for a deployment isn't suggesting the same solution for a more violent place in his own district.

"Scared of Charlotte" is a whole new level of "scared of cities" that I'd never even considered possible
Rep. Pat Harrigan: "I have asked Josh Stein, our governor, to consider working with President Trump to allow the National Guard to come into Charlotte ... use the National Guard as a force multiplier and they can a lot of load off the Charlotte PD."

This from @ncrabbithole.com includes perhaps the best case I've ever read for the value of nostalgia.

“It allows me to trick myself and escape, for a moment, back to a time when things were no less complicated or hard but sure felt like they were”
