NC Democrats appear to be very serious in winning this state the first primary in the nation.

But, our primaries are state-run, and Dems would need cooperation from the GOP legislature. #ncpol

Obviously Brockman has an argument to be made in saying that he can help the GOP override any veto he wants. But, there MUST be something crazy happening behind closed doors to warrant rhetoric like this coming out in an official statement.

When Auditor Josh Gallion was re-elected earlier this month, he extended the Republican winning streak in the office to 130 years.

Frank A. Briggs started the streak when he flipped the office from the Democratic-Independent Party. Briggs would be elected governor in 1896.

The longest current winning streak for a political party in any statewide office in America belongs to the Republican Party for winning every single election for North Dakota State Auditor since 1894.

Completely random #ncpol fact: Rachel Hunt was born in Nepal

(Maybe the first N.C. Lt. Governor born outside of the U.S.?)

States in purple are the ones where RFK's name was not on the ballot, he was on ballots in the green ones. Despite dropping out months ago and endorsing Trump, Kennedy finished 3rd in almost every state where he was still on the ballot. The exceptions: MI, NJ, LA, MD, CT.

If Trump and Harris weren't on the ballot, what would the map look like? 2024 gave us one of the most interesting "third-place finishers" maps in recent history.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. placed 3rd in 25 states + DC
Jill Stein in 14 states
Chase Oliver in 10 states

Gee, if people hated what Stein did as Attorney General so much, then…

How did he get re-elected?

Why did the voters elect another Democrat to the office, by an even larger margin than they did in 2020?

It’s clear voters wanted Jackson to lead the office, not the NCGA.

With new reports from Forsyth and Craven, Allison Riggs' lead has jumped to 623 votes over Jefferson Griffin.

While there are still three counties who have not made their results official, it doesn't seem like this margin will change much... until the inevitable recount. #ncpol

Provisionals from Halifax and Sampson have increased Allison Riggs' lead in the Supreme Court race to 70 votes. Forsyth and Craven are the only counties that have not yet reported provisional votes. Six others not yet official. #ncpol

As usual, Bryan Anderson has been doing an excellent job of tracking county status.

This is generally better for Riggs, as there are likely to be more votes remaining from D-leaning counties than R-leaning ones. The biggest prize remaining is Forsyth, home to Winston-Salem.

Since that bomb from Wake, several more counties finalized their vote totals last night. This narrowed the race further: Allison Riggs leads Jefferson Griffin by an incredible 24 votes in one of the closest elections this state has ever seen. #ncpol

7:50 PM: Griffin leads Riggs by 2,753 votes. Unknown number of ballots remaining. Here’s a helpful guide on what counties we’re waiting on, courtesy of reporter Bryan Anderson. #ncpol

5:30 PM: I just got out of a movie, so here’s where the Supreme Court race stands. Griffin’s lead has been cut down slightly, to 3,443 votes. Most counties in the state are calling their results official, but we are still waiting on votes from a few, including Wake. #ncpol

One result that has a chance of changing today is the razor-thin race in SD18. Ashlee Adams’ lead over Terence Everitt has shrunk to just FIVE VOTES. The district consists of northern Wake plus all of Granville County. #ncpol

2 PM UPDATE: Jefferson Griffin leads Allison Riggs by 3,735 votes. Slightly more than this morning, but most counties that reported this afternoon are Republican.

The map below shows which counties have reported and which have not. We’re still waiting on the counties in light purple. #ncpol
