CASA training is intense. I cried a few times. The mandated reporter training is tough, too. I say this not to discourage anyone (you should try being a CASA!) I share only to show how badass every single CASA is. Some of them have cases that have seen the worst things a child can endure. Show up. ❤️

I think I mentioned I am taking a Leave of Absence from CASA work. I have a lot to do the next 18 months. Since my case ended early and I didn't want to commit to a new case rn, I can take up to 6mos off. Then I'd need to re-train. We will see.

I've decided not to check my news app in the morning. My algorithm had become a ceaseless onslaught of dead children. I mean, maybe that's what the world is now. But it is not all it is. I get enough current events here and fewer foster parent murderer stories. I'll take it.

I took a shower. Washed my hair. Put like 5 products in my hair and used my diffuser dryer for a bit. I'll finish it later. That wiped me out.

I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

My kid is so driven, man. 4.0 and straight A's since kindergarten. I worry. I was like that. Then my breakdowns were SO bad. Hopefully, I've prepared her on what to watch for enough. Her bass guitar and piano playing, so good. I love this kid.

The kid has decided to try out for badminton (?!) So we are off to get her a birdie to practice with. We also started her college application (?!) process for next summer. Gulp. I guess soon she's going to want to get her learner's permit to drive. Fuck.
