The Epstein case is important, not least because it implicates 47, but don't forget that a huge % of cases of violence against women involve police inaction, court inaction, untested rape kits, unenforced restraining orders, disbelieved victims & witnesses, & perps generally getting away with it.
As ppl look for transparency & accountability we’ve put together a comprehensive timeline of the failure of federal law enforcement to address Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's crimes @justsecurity.org

It’s a “tale of national disgrace” spanning 3 decades

Interesting article about Neanderthals processing bones to get the fat in the bones for their diet. Explanation of calories/fat that sort of explains the situations we see on the TV show “Alone”. Contestants always need to eat more fat to survive

Large-scale processing of within-bone nutrients by Neanderthals, 125,000 years ago
Neanderthals intensively processed a minimum of 172 large mammals for grease and marrow fat, 125,000 years ago.

Expressing this hatred towards Democrats after two Democrats were literally just assassinated is beyond the scope of my comprehension. Sick to my stomach hardly covers it.

Happy Independence Day America! I am proud to be American. To me, the real patriots are those who push their country to do better and live up to its ideals. Because if you love America as a beacon of hope, you have to love liberty and justice for all.

I always say I love my country the way Anthony Bourdain did, not as a benevolent state or one founded in innocence but as vast, beautiful place full of discrete people and cultures such as has rarely been attempted and worth fighting for.

This is a horror show! Get the Halloween decorations out, not the flags! Is that a fake graveyard? Oh look at that little concentration camp!
I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Wishing everyone a happy Fourth of July!

249 years since we declared independence from a king, the work of living up to our founding promise is more important than ever - and it calls on each of us to do what we can for our country.

Hard to take seriously the red-white-and-blue rhetoric of freedom on a 4th of July where the US president has cut off aid to a democracy fighting for its independence against ferocious attack by a foreign tyrant.

There’s a weird thing on this website and lots of left-wing subcultures, where people love to throw around “liberal” as an insult, but from what I can tell liberals voted overwhelmingly against Cuomo and are rallying behind Zohran now.

Not sure why thimerosal is getting attention again but please feel free to use/share this info (& follow @sabivm.bsky.social)

1) thimerosal is in <5% of all available flu (& only flu) vaccines
2) eating 3 oz tuna fish is objectively greater mercury exposure risk than a thimerosal-containing vaccine

Something lovely for your timeline!

Beautiful blue glass beads from the late Bronze Age.

Ploughed up by a farmer in Denmark in 1885, analysis shows the beads were made in Mesopotamia, pointing to long-distance trade in luxury goods some 3,000 years ago.
