This fight isn't over. Our case challenging President Trump's executive order will still move forward.

In the meantime anyone who applies for a new, corrected, or replacement passport, or for a passport renewal, is at risk of having their passport issued bearing the sex they were assigned at birth.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court will allow the Trump administration to enforce its anti-trans and anti-nonbinary passport policy during litigation.

The unsigned, four-paragraph order effectively reverses two lower-court decisions. The Democratic appointees dissent.

Per NYT: Airlines are now required to disregard gender-neutral 'X’ markers on passports when passengers check in and replace them with an 'M' for male, or an 'F' for female marker

🤨 "The new rule amounts to a data-collection change and does not affect passengers’ ability to fly."

IDs and passports don't even need to have gender markers on them. you could remove them entirely and nothing of consequence would be lost

This is something the Republican Party has been working on for some time. I first tracked it in Florida where a bill gained traction that would have taken away nonprofit status from lgbt nonprofits.

Even wrote a story on it.

We are very much at increased risk of these kinds of fascist crackdowns.

1. My newest Anti-Trans Legal Risk Map is here.

Risk has increased sharply for youth in many states as clinics shutter under Trump and state AGs refuse to enforce civil rights laws.

For adults, some increases in risk.

Nationwide risk remains extreme.

What Newsom is selling about trans people is what Trump is selling his base about trans people: "your life will be better if trans people's lives are worse."

It's not a purity test; it's about rejecting a politics that sells you empty promises in exchange for other people's misery
if you're mad at a trans person for saying they won't vote for Gavin Newsom

too damn bad! this is our lives! it's not a purity test when it's our lives. of course we're a one issue voter, it's our lives

you could just not nominate Newsom! but everyone knows the risk of that now, you have no excuse
