I experienced an anti-Arab hate incident on the steps of City Hall in San Francisco today; during the Board of Supervisors meeting in which Arab American Heritage Month was recognized.

I’m sharing my experience & recommendations on what to do if this happens to you.

Video: Part 1 of 2 🧵
Two years into Israel's genocide in Gaza, the anti-Palestinian racism that has been accepted and normalized in Zionist circles is now an actual political liability in San Francisco.

Case in point: Manny Yekutiel and the District 8 Supervisor race.

SF candidate disavows supporter’s anti-Palestinian comments
Manny Yekutiel, who has been critical of Israel’s war in Gaza, says he wasn’t aware of a supporter’s comments in a 400-person WhatsApp chat.

Co-sign. The fact that Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza is not just an opinion. It's the conclusion of the International Association of Genocide Scholars, Genocide Watch, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, the UN, and many others.

The room is packed and people are standing outside to listen to his remarks.

No more genocide apologists in the CA state legislature.

Never forget that Christine Pelosi antagonized protestors as they bravely called for a ceasefire at the CADEM convention in November 2023.

The death toll was already at 15K+ Palestinians:

Republicans telling Democrats they need to be centrist is a massive warning sign about centrism & incrementalism.

Democrats should not let Republicans set their agenda. They tried it in the 2024 election & it failed miserably in addition to being a moral & ethical blunder.

The moderate position for the last 5 years: it’s okay to have thousands of deaths if corporate profits are up, it’s okay to have genocide if Israel is happy, it’s okay to have ICE separating families as long as they don’t use tear gas, it’s okay to cut healthcare as long as I don’t work weekends…

“Moderate” and centrist Democrats should not be setting the agenda for the Democratic Party.

Centrism is not going to be a winning message or platform in 2026 or 2028.

People want change; not the status quo.
Most of y’all are old enough to remember but it bears repeating, Democrats couldn’t peel off a single member of the Republican caucus in the initial fight to enact the ACA, even after they watered down the plans to attract them.

Republicans got 8 Democrats in what’s essentially a vote to repeal.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

The number of ordinary Americans who’ve put their bodies on the line to protect neighbors from ICE, donated money and food to support neighbors who’d otherwise go hungry, and marched and mobilized because of the urgency of this moment is unfortunately being met with lukewarm representation.

The last thing I did before departing NYC was go check out the ‘Niyū Yūrk’ exhibit at the New York Public Library which chronicles the arrival of Middle Eastern & North African (MENA or SWANA) communities in New York City.

Highly recommend! The exhibit runs through March 2026.

See you there!
My pickleball highlights just dropped and so did our next round of neighborhood town halls! If you’re in the Richmond, join us tomorrow at 6:30pm at the Richmond Rec Center. If you're not, no worries, we’re coming to Bernal Heights, Potrero Hill, and Glen Park next.

Thank you, Speaker Emerita Pelosi, for your decades of service that defined a generation of politics and for doing something truly rare in Washington: making room for the next one.

Employment lawyer here: the number of male employers who genuinely believe they should be able to sleep with their female employees and pay working mothers less than working fathers is most of them. They genuinely believe that it is an injustice against them that they might face repercussions.
