conservatives basically want to implement the caricature of affirmative action for conservative students. acceptance without meeting qualifications, good grades and degrees without having to do the work.

I don't think we contain separate "mind" and "body" substances but rather those are two boundaries of the human process which are continuously integrated through present action. They are not things that can become separate because they are a singular reality.

Probably not a direct response, but I view emotion as the felt presence of a "surplus" reality that the isolated individual can't contain. It is a structural tension that forces us to connect, creating a shared transindividual world to resolve what our biology left unfinished.
as so often, the explanation is probably 'animals feel emotions that are similar to ours, and when we disregard the evidence to avoid 'anthromorphism' it's fundamentally ideological, not scientific'
this might be the saddest story I've ever written, about a seal that I will be thinking about for a long, long time.

Of course under capitalism a degree of anticipation can be profitable - if you can understand consumer behaviors you can get an advantage. This is massively amplified by tech, especially in this real-time information regime we're under increasingly. I always felt prediction can tend towards control.

What a useless fucking vote to have at a time when fascism is on the rise and threatening democracy all over the world. Democrats need to stop taking the bait.
US Congress voted 285–98 to condemn "socialism." 88 Democrats joined Republicans, including Hakeem Jeffries.

What they mean by socialism is your access to healthcare, housing, safety regulations, and anything that benefits you instead of the oligarchy. There has been no vote to condemn fascism. #3E

The last part about the barber happened to me during a haircut a few days ago. The barber kept leaning in and his dick was pressing into my arms and hands (my hands are on the armrests). I mean I didn't mind, I'm gay, I was doing gay math to figure out how heavy it laid.

After watching the video of Trump and Mamdani's presser, Mamdani is pretty much a master of politicking because I think he actually cemented a bond with Trump that will help him as mayor and make Trump cynical of anyone who attacks Mamdani.

Since I saw JD Vance and Usha Vance I had them on a divorce countdown. No way JD can act like the shithead as much as he does for her to tolerate it.

When I was a teenager I used to watch movies on a Intel Celeron 800Mhz laptop under the covers when we had no oil to heat the apartment. If only I had been mining crypto.

It's just a bizarre gambit, and for what? To make fascists richer?

Whatever happened to the "FBI informant hero" angle that was briefly floated?
Not three months ago, Bondi and Patel stated unequivocally that there was nothing more to investigate (but that is indeed the reason the will give for not releasing the files now)
Instead of just releasing the Epstein files, Trump ordered the DOJ to investigate Democrats and AG Pam Bondi is complying.

Are they setting up a pretext to block the release by arguing the files are now part of an active investigation? I’m not saying that would work, but he’s desperate to block.

I can't make sense of why these Democrats did this. They swept the elections a week ago and the Republicans were showing signs of breaking insofar as tension between Trump and the GOP, but they still went for this.
