Trains are better anyway. I love trains. There's no TSA for a train and you get a significantly higher luggage allowance. I've gone from Seattle to New York by train - twice! - and loved the experience both times.
A growing number of Americans are rolling into the holidays by train with Amtrak reporting an increase in riders after federally mandated flight reductions led to thousands of delays and cancellations at major airports nationwide. NBC News' Emilie Ikeda reports.

The more "agentic AI" bs #Windows pushes the happier I am with #Linux. And the more convinced I am that local data storage is the best data storage. I'm now building my own NAS and learning about #selfhosting. I can organize my own files and write my own emails, thanks, and telemetry isn't required.

I'm working on my #DedicantPath material for #ADF (Ár nDraíocht Féin) and I'm growing concerned that my personal ritual calendar won't fit their criteria. I've structured it to fit my local Texas growing season, which I've backed up with sources but doesn't match their fixed Celtic-based schedule.

Tried to use #Etsy while signed in using a VPN and they suspended my account. The "#security questions" used to verify me included what city/state I normally log in from, what browser I normally use, and what specific mobile device(s) I use to log in. They TRACK that! That is so creepy! #privacy

TIL that it's really easy to take a computer mouse apart for painting. And that like a PC, they can get dusty on the inside. This mouse is old enough that the rubber is wearing away where my thumb goes, so it could have been worse, but there was way more dust inside then I'd thought there'd be!

If you were waiting for a reason to #deGoogle, here you go. I was horrified when I found out how much info #Google has on me, going back 10+ years, that was LINKED TO MY ACCOUNT. It wasn't even anonymized! And they're using it (even if indirectly) for #ICE? I say no. #Proton is an easy alternative.

Wonder when - if ever - MAGA will realize ICE will eventually come after them, too. Trump and his puppets promote beating clergy and protect men who rape little girls. NO ONE is safe from a regime that is this morally bankrupt.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

Obama's real crime in MAGA's eyes? Being a Black man who dared have authority over white men. Obama being a way better president than Trump is a constant reminder - even if they won't admit it - that the only way they can win is to rig the game. And they can't STAND it. It's all racism and ego.

It's been 3+ years and I am still obsessed with my #Planck #mechanicalkeyboard. It's great that I love it, but that layout is now a requirement and NO ONE makes them! I WANT to get new keyboards and play with new features, but most of them are 65%+ layouts and that feels like downgrading. Bleck. :(

Being able to TRULY customize my computer experience is amazing. I spent most of the weekend tweaking all kinds of things in #Linux to suit me, and now all I can think about are OTHER tweaks I can make. I'm having so much fun!

These Senate Dems are pissing me off. We got Dems who fought, they won by a LANDSLIDE, and within days Dems are folding like cheap lawn chairs. Way to reward the voters you out of touch idiots!

These Dems need to retire to make room for people who actually have spines. FFS.

Talk about threatening us with a good time!

They should ALL be going to prison. For breaking actual laws that are on the books. The fact that they're squashing investigations into their illegal behavior doesn't make the behavior any less illegal.
Steve Bannon: "If we lose the midterms and we lose 2028, some in this room are going to prison, myself included."

And things like THIS are what finally pushed me to be vegetarian. I do not trust in our current food safety guidelines, especially with meat and meat products.
NEW: Foreign food safety inspections have hit a historic low after Trump staffing cuts. The dramatic shift in oversight comes as the U.S. has never been more reliant on foreign food.

“It’s only a matter of time before people die,” one expert said.
Foreign Food Safety Inspections Hit Historic Low After Trump Cuts
The dramatic shift in oversight comes at a time when the U.S. has never been more reliant on foreign food, which accounts for the vast majority of the nation’s seafood and more than half its fresh fruit.

I'm still settling into using #Kubuntu #Linux and I am absolutely loving it. Every so often I'll stop whatever I'm doing and ask myself "is there an (easier) way to do this?". And nine times out of ten, the answer is "yes there is, and it's super easy to implement too!". It's SO NICE.
