The problem with selling ‘intelligence’ as a product, is that you need to assume all your customers are thick. There’s no room for experts, everyone needs to have an intelligence deficit. So you end up telling Oscar winning scriptwriter Dame Emma Thompson that her writing could be better.
"I DON'T NEED YOU TO FUCKING REWRITE WHAT I'VE JUST WRITTEN!"

To provide context of how these things develop: we in Ukraine have passed the stage of coming up to a police cordon with carnations & sticking a carnation into a hole in a policeperson's shield back in 2004.

By 2014, protesters were being shot at.

I'm afraid the US of A are doing a crash course.

"Vigorous exposure" sounds vaguely kinky.
Clay Higgins sent a letter to Bluesky and other social media sites threatening investigations if they don't censor speech critical of Charlie Kirk.

They don't even know who Jay is because they addressed her as "gentleman."

PSA: do not follow seemingly pro-Ukrainian accounts that consist only of reposts of actual pro-Ukrainian accounts. Those are bots created with who knows what intentions. The proper response is blocking.

We got invaded PRIOR to becoming anti-Ru. Invasion _caused_ anti-Ru sentiment, which is completely logical and justifiable. Pic of dynamics of good/bad (blue/orange) attitude towards 🇷🇺 & 🇷🇺ns attached. Marked by arrows are Feb. 2014 and Feb. 2022 — PRIOR to killings on Maidan & full-scale invasion.

Marine's client needs things done _now_ and will settle for creating chaos even if he can't have someone specific in office.
If Prime Minister François Bayrou had hoped far-right leader Marine Le Pen would avoid bringing down France’s government because she is banned from running for political office, he sorely miscalculated.
Marine Le Pen seizes her moment to shake France
Undeterred by her ban on running for political office, the far-right leader is out to bring down the government and press for new elections.

This after the planned summer offensive went sooooo well...
NEW: Russia reportedly leveraged the August 15 Alaska Summit to stall for a planned Fall 2025 offensive. Russian forces also notably took advantage of the summit to intensify ongoing offensive operations in certain areas of the theater and to stockpile drones and missiles.🧵(1/3) isw.pub/UkrWar082925

I won't be original noting that Trump has evaded answering basically every single question as it was posed, but my favorite part in this Oval Office encounter isn't even the "same suit" shade.

It's the "Republic of the Condo".

OTD in 2021 Prez published "On the historical unity of Russia and Ukraine". 7000 rambling words about how Ukraine shouldn't exist.

So when we put our army in place to make that a reality, it was western warmongers to blame.

US President Donald Trump said it was a 'mistake' to remove Russia from the G8.

That's what you get once you decide it's less escalatory to pussyfoot around an aggressive country. Had Russia gotten its teeth kicked in at least in 2014, the world would have been a safer place today. Ukrainians were the first victims & the West decided to drip-feed them into the maw. FAFO.
⚡️ Russia to help North Korea produce Shahed-type drones, Ukraine's spy chief says.

Shahed drones could enable North Korea to strike targets across South Korea, potentially overwhelming air defenses, and could also assist Russia in its war against Ukraine, the War Zone wrote.

Can't comment bc OP has restrictions on who can comment on his posts, but no, this is not Ru/Ukr punctuation. This is (mostly) a perfectly cromulent English way of handling adverbials or other inserted remarks. Specifically, no Ru/Ukr-speaker would ever put "by telephone" in commas.
It's pretty obvious that it wasn't written by him but I also don't think it's written by a native English speaker. There are too many commas in odd places. I don't know russian but I know Ukrainian grammar requires a lot of commas and I wonder if that's common to both languages.

Take the fictional character quiz and post the first four you know:

(I cheated. I skipped 2 characters from Sense8 bc for me, that was an empty show focused on visuals & comedy of errors, so I don't really think of it as having characters w/ a personality).

I deleted DL back in early January after they'd "upgraded" animations to include cheerful explosions at the end of a completed lesson. I have enough adrenaline from actual explosions happening very much within earshot a couple of times a week to find this amusing. Email to DL went unanswered.
I have completely deleted my Duolingo. I was informed by one of my kids that the company has removed most of its employees and 70% of the company is run by AI.

I urge everyone to delete their app.
Duolingo CEO says he's getting rid of contract employees and replacing them with AI
Duolingo employees can also expect their AI use to be graded in their performance reviews.

Random thought: Maybe adding Goldberg to the Signal thread was Waltz "blinking" (you know, as in, "if you are being held against your will, blink") & finding a limited-damage way out of this? Or, alternatively, an attempt to push Hegseth out (bc he was probably _bound_ to do something like this)?

What stood out to me in The Atlantic article on US war plans being broadcast to random phone numbers is that VP Vance seems to genuinely just dislike Europe.

I'm somehow getting the same vibes as from Ruᛋᛋіa hating Ukraine. Civilizational cradle that stayed distinct from the nouveau-riche offshoot.
