Gay artist Paul Cadmus was BOTD in 1904 & died in 1999 at 94. His 1934 painting, The Fleet's In!, depicting rowdy, debauched sailors on shore leave in NYC, which the U.S. Navy censored & removed from a public exhibition, sparked national uproar & inadvertently launched his career
