The Trump regime calls SNAP food aid “a broken and corrupt program.” It's a typical right-wing “blame the poor” campaign by people uninterested in the well-being of others. This thread includes a few examples from the past, including this headline in the Palo Alto (CA) Times in 1968. 🧵 1/4

Today on Volts: hey listen up! The most important election of the year is happening in Georgia next month. Two seats on the (currently all-GOP) Public Service Commission are up & rising electricity prices are on everyone's mind. This is a bellwether for next year's governor & midterm elections!
Pay attention to the most important political race of 2025

During a shutdown, the federal government can deploy troops to invade US cities but can’t send WIC funds to states to feed infants and children. Speaks volumes about how the rules around shutdowns systematically serve GOP priorities while harming everyone else.

Where are The Oracle & the other Obama-era economists? Why are they not on every platform, every day, telling folks about the Worst Economic Policy In 40 Years? What happened to It's The 1970s & Stagflation Again? Was it all just a bit? Or do the standards only apply to Democrats? And if so, why?
Wondering again where Larry Summers is & why he is not 24/7 on every media platform warning about stagflation odds & the least responsible economic policy in 40 years 🤔🤷‍♂️

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America
