The other thing about the militarized teams deployed on deportations is that they are increasingly a coalition of the willing that scrambles chains of command across various dept's and agencies (DHS, ICE, FBI, CBP, BOP, etc), creating what amounts to a personalized militia loyal only to Trump.

After Europe’s cohesive response to Vance’s shocking speech at the MSC, things look to be tentatively going in the right direction. Shame the UK is totally limp in all this, but I suspect if things go further we will eventually join them.
However, cf recent history, public perception of foreign relations are often only changed by a sharp shock to the system (see 2014 attitudes towards Ukraine vs 2022).
I am not very optimistic, but the prospects of a cooperative Europe in the face of these threats are not yet shut. END

With a likely invasion of Taiwan in 2027-2028 (and possibly a simultaneous Korean theatre opening up), along with serious threat of NATO-Russia direct confrontation because of failure to support Ukraine with Western military aid, a scary global situation in the late 2020s is on the horizon. 1/
