This person who successfully committed suicide (something which jails are supposed to protect against) was being held at a random Georgia jail through a contract with the U.S. Marshal Service, which let ICE use its network of contracts with local jails. This is not a big detention center.

Percy, a pit bull mix, was dumped at a shelter in Ohio in 2021. He’s been there since. After several unsuccessful social media campaigns, the shelter is employing a new approach: throwing him a “paw-ty” and inviting prospective adopters.

I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.
